'All about 'Ruby'
This classic camper van is a LHD example that was imported from California in 2013. It underwent a complete nut and bolt restoration, carried out by the award winning restoration team at VW camper specialist. A new flat four air cooled engine was fitted, which has done just 16,500 miles. The electrical ignition system adds additional reliability. The low mileage reflects the fact the camper has been used for summer holidays and occasional day trips out only. The vehicle has been professionally stored and maintained by a qualified VW mechanic. It has an MoT until March 2021 and is road tax exempt.
The camper van has a beautiful interior, with both a leather and vinyl trim. The kitchen includes a Smeg gas hob, water-pump sink and three-way refrigerator. Plenty of storage is provided by bespoke cabinets, including a 12v and 240v electric hook-up. A propane heater is fitted, linked to a gas bottle, safely stored under the sink. This vehicle benefits from a number of luxurious extras, including power-assisted steering; a four-way stereo system and drop-down DVD player. Under the back seat, there is a secure safe which can be used to lock away valuables.
'Ruby' can accommodate five passengers (seat belts fitted); and with the ‘pop-top’ roof can easily sleep four. It comes with a rock ‘n’ roll double bed and memory foam mattresses, making for a comfortable camping experience.
Overall, this vehicle drives beautifully, the power assisted steering also helps. It is fitted with a tow-bar and can pull a load along the motorway easily at 70 mph, which can’t be said about a lot of VW campers for this period.
