If ever there was a production Jaguar that should be labelled as `The Most Desirable` it has to be the astonishingly elegant, two-door, pillarless, XJ12 5.3C. Very rare indeed, with a production of only 600 in Right Hand Drive.
To find a beautifully original, well cared-for, low mileage, example is rarer even than the model itself. And this is one such car.
Manufactured in 1977, but Registered in 1978, this car remained in just one ownership from 1985 to 2018 – thirty three years! Its mileage of 73,000 is fully supported by MOTs , a good History file and Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Having always been garaged and never abused, this car has escaped the fate that befell the great majority. Original throughout – other than a recent repaint by ourselves in its correct Cream – including its beautiful, supple, Dark Blue leather and trim with original Flock carpeting, its original Kent Alloy wheels and, most importantly, its original Black Vinyl covered roof with not a single blemish beneath. Dinitroled from new, its inner structure is also outstanding. Air Conditioning was installed from new.
Its 5.3 V12 engine, driving through a GM400 automatic gearbox, delivers outstanding, smooth, performance. Its brakes are firm and sure and its steering: completely accurate.
A better car – never pulled apart – would be hard to find. This is, quite probably, one of the very best examples extant.
