In a dramatic move away from the 'running board' designed, T-series cars of pre-war cars, the MGA was the 'first of a new line' in sportscar production and with its bold curvacious styling it really wowed the audience when launched as an 'open' two seater sports car, the 1500 Roadster, at the 1955 Frankfurt Motorshow and followed one year later by the 1500 Coupe. Both these cars took their power plant from the 1489cc B-series four-cylinder engine found in the larger family saloon, the MG Magnette, with this offering 68bhp, approximately 30 miles per gallon and the excitement of 100mph motoring!

Remaining in production until 1962, the MGA saw further mechanical upgrades, with the introduction of the 1600cc and, somewhat temperamental, Twin-cam models and with further subtle styling changes helping to keep the design fresh there's little doubt this contributed massively to the fact that of its time the MGA was the US's most popular British sportscar, out-selling others 3:1, with some 80k examples of the total 101k production being exported to the US!

With her accompanying British Motor Heritage Certificate, we're delighted to offer this truly exceptional 1957 MGA 1500 Coupe. Originally built for the LHD, North American market, 1 of circa 4500 examples built, this car was imported from the USA in 2018, with pre-works images (memory stick) showing that the car was largely complete and in good /solid condition. Fully restored by a local gent, converted to RHD and professionally painted she is without question one of the finest examples we've ever seen, the images being testament to that.

Only recently completed, with post-build checks carried out by our engineer, a tour around this stunning classic, will leave most speachless! The car has been subject to a complete body-off restoration with everything stripped to the last nut and bolt with a huge amount of care and attention taken to ensure that every detail is 'just so'. We'd say she's possibly better than when new as further time and money has been spent on detailed powder-coating of under-body components and anything that has needed replacing has been done so with the aim of building the finest example available. The bodywork is simply sensational, professional painted with the colour changed from Island Green to a more classic 'Dove Grey' and some will have noticed that the car now features 'Sebring' styling with the exterior chrome now detailed in a monochromatic silver, which we think works perfectly with the fresh paint......a set of classic number roundels and she's ready for racing!

The attention to detail continues on opening the doors too, with the driver and any lucky passenger met with an interior trimmed to the highest standards. The red leather seats feel wonderfully supple, the contrasting black carpets are excellent, the instrumentation all operates correctly and she has the correctly trimmed leather dash & fascia top; many would say "it's all in the detail" and this MGA Coupe is just right and we simply love the addition of the classic Astrali wood rimmed steering wheel.

Mechanically this 1500 Coupe is a delight. The 14989cc engine (rebuilt with hardened valve seats), positioned in the beautifully detailed engine compartment, starts easily, thanks to the Accuspark conversion, and depressing the clutch and driving through the close-ratio 4 speed gearbox the car is a joy to drive, with the car having numerous upgrades including poly-bushes, Koni shocks and the addition of a front anti-roll bar which now tightens up the handling whilst still keeping her supple and compliant through the twisty stuff.

A rotisserie restoration, we have no doubt in saying that this one of the finest examples you're likely to see and with close to zero miles since completion this MGA Coupe is now ready for a new home and to be enjoyed; whether at static display events, touring holidays or enjoying trips to classic motoring events like Goodwood Revival, she's a conversation piece and will certainly turn heads where-ever she goes!
